A daily ritual

In winter, when the pace of life seems slower, I try to allow time to create a small artwork to start the day. These are little sketches that follow an idea I am thinking about. When I sit down to the organized chaos of my desk, with papers, pens, paints and colored pencils , my mind goes to another zone and I let ideas flow without an defined outcome. The size I am working with is like a deck of cards- just the right size for a daily ritual. I have been thinking about bird languages, and have read and heard some wonderful stories this winter. This is one of the series about what birds are talking about, as I imagine it. Often these little exercises help me springboard into a larger piece.
